Donald Trump has a love-hate relationship with funerals — but on Wednesday afternoon, he starred in a New York City mass for his first wife, Ivana Trump.
All heads are turned when the former president and former first lady Melania arrives with an entourage from the Secret Service to honor the Roman Catholic Rite. 73-year-old social funfamous in her own right after her marriage 1977-1992 to the man she called “Donald” for a long time.
Donald and Melania Trump’s son, Barron, 16, sat in the front row with his parents. Tiffany Trump, daughter of Marla Maples, Trump’s second wife, was present although Maples was not in attendance.

Ivana’s coffin was wrapped in purple cloth and topped with a golden cross under the high stone ceiling of the stately Roman Catholic Church.
“Ivana wants a big, magical celebration of her life,” said Hay, a friend of 40 years. “Today she is right where she belongs. In the spotlight and in heaven.”
Donald and Melania Trump used a limestone and granite arched side door to enter the 1918 Gothic-style St. Vincent Ferrer Church on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Mourners were greeted to the church front with a guest book and a large photo of the former model and skater in all her ’80s splendor, looking “glamorous in a blue mantle,” Hay told Insider.
He said the three sons of Donald and Ivana delivered eulogy for their mother, describing some of their observations.
Ivanka broke down in tears several times as she addressed the 400 mourners in the church. But many smiled as Ivanka fondly remembered her mother chastising her for wearing a miniskirt that “wasn’t small enough”.
Ivana’s maternal wisdom was: “Brown it while you get it.”
The mourners also smiled when Ivanka recalled one of her mother’s favorite phrases, always uttered in her native Czech dialect: “There is nothing I can do better than wearing high heels.”
“Ivanka looked absolutely perfect – she is her mother’s daughter – in a matching black dress with white pearls,” Hay said.
Donald Trump Jr. remembered his mother’s reaction when he threw a tantrum at Gussman’s Restaurant in Montauk, in the Hamptons, at about 4 years old.
“My mother took me to the bathroom and gave me some old punishment,” he recalls with a laugh.
“And I left with my ass red. She told me if I cried, she’d take me back for more. That day probably won’t fly, but maybe it should be because I was a perfect little boy for the rest of that dinner,” Hey Donald Trump Jr. recalled fondly during his eulogy.
Eric Trump praised his mother’s sanity and beauty, saying she “can beat any man on the slopes, any woman on the runway”, The New York Post reported. He said she was “the embodiment of the American dream”.

Earlier Wednesday, the Trump family attended a nearby private funeral at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel.

“Ivana was very conservative, because people, you know, always wanted something from her,” said a neighbor and acquaintance, Marie-Noel Levine, of French descent, who refused to give her age.
“But she’s European like me and we know how to keep things close,” said Levine, whose daughter attended ballet school with Ivanka.
“I liked it very much – the way I will like people who come from my continent and live a wonderful life here.”
He missed the funeral of Rep. civil rights leader John Lewis in Atlanta, which two years ago was attended by Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, all of whom delivered eulogy.
The former president was known, however, To appear at the memorial service – Undeclared – at his Mar-a-Lago resort, probably motivated by his love for the crowd.
A member of the resort told Bloomberg that Trump not only crashed a memorial service there, but gave a speech and loitered around to “fry up” afterwards.
Trump was not the first former president or Washington dignitary to attend a funeral at the stately Upper East Side Chapel where Andy Warhol once worshiped.
